The short answer
A financial planner looks at your whole picture, including savings, taxes, retirement income, and the decisions in between, then helps you decide what to do and in what order. We do that from our office at 179 New York Avenue in Huntington, or by video if that is easier.
A plan is built around your situation. It cannot remove the risk that markets, tax rules, or life will change, so we revisit it with you as things change.
Who we plan with around Huntington
Most of the people we meet fall into a few groups: retirees and near-retirees working out how the pieces fit, business owners and executives, and medical and legal professionals whose careers came with a lot of moving parts. You do not need a particular net worth to start.
Some come with a specific question, such as when to claim Social Security or whether a Roth conversion makes sense. Others just know the paperwork has outgrown the shoebox. Both are fine starting points.
What we help with
Our team holds CFP®, IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), and CRPS™ designations, so planning and tax questions can be worked on together. Here is the menu, one line each:
- Comprehensive financial planning: a look at your goals, cash flow, investments, and taxes in one place.
- Retirement planning: saving, Social Security timing, and how income may be drawn down over time.
- Tax planning and preparation: planning and return preparation from an IRS Enrolled Agent.
- Wealth and investment management: portfolio management paired with your financial plan.
- High net worth planning: investment, tax, and legacy questions for larger, more complex households.
- Business 401(k) plans: retirement plan options for owners and their employees.
- Estate and trust planning: how the pieces fit together, coordinated with your attorney. We are not a law firm and do not draft legal documents.
Every strategy has trade-offs, and what suits one household may not suit another. That is the reason we talk it through first.
Three ways to work together
Not everyone wants the same level of help, so we do not force one model:
- A one-time session. You bring your questions, we work through them, and you leave with a plan to act on.
- Ongoing, subscription-based advice. A steady relationship for people who want a planner to check in as life changes.
- Planning plus managed assets. We build the plan and manage the investments that go with it.
Current packages and prices are on our fees page, so there are no surprises after the first call.

Wherever you are in the township, you can meet us at the office by appointment, Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 4 PM.
If an in-person visit is a hassle, we meet by video with screen sharing and secure file transfer. That works for neighbors across Long Island, and for clients anywhere in the country.
Why Huntington?
I did not pick Huntington off a map. It is where I live, where I have worked, and where my family grew. Here is the short version:
- Huntington resident
- Graduate of Northport High School
- 2016 Huntington Chamber of Commerce 30 Under 30
- All of my kids were born at Huntington Hospital
- Former bartender in Huntington Village, which is good practice for listening to people
- Former barista in Northport Village, where I learned that every order is more complicated than it looks
- Former (and hopefully future) runner of the Great Cow Harbor 10K in Northport. I walked a good part of it, so call it a slow training arc, not Spirit Bomb
That is the long way of saying these are my neighbors. A planning conversation tends to go easier when we know the same streets.
A Long Island planner, not a brochure
Our founder grew up on food stamps on Long Island. That is why we lean toward plain language, no pressure, and starting wherever you happen to be. Planning should not require a secret handshake.
N Financial Plans is a fee-only, fiduciary firm. We accept zero commissions and sell no products. If you are comparing advisors around Huntington, our guide to fee-only financial advisors in Huntington covers what fee-only means and the questions worth asking any advisor.
Start with a conversation
Already working with someone and want a fresh set of eyes? Ask for a complimentary financial second opinion. If you are starting from scratch, the contact page is the quickest way to book a call. Either way, it is a conversation first, and nothing has to change afterward.
